– meet the multifaceted and multitalented illustrator, animator and ... acoustic engineer.
Originally, Jody Ghani Nordby had a master in acoustic engineering, and used to work as a research assistant, but something creative was always missing, she says. That is why she decided to study at VIA University College, for a bachelor in Character Animation. Jody now works as a full time animator and illustrator under the name JodyPrody, promoting her work on her popular website jodyprody.com, and her equally popular Instagram profile.

JodyPrody’s portfolio includes a broad variety of artwork: Graphic Facilitation, live drawing and creating whiteboard films. Her animated work includes TED-Ed films, poetry films and work done for private and public companies. “Doing the TED-Ed films is always a very intense and interesting process, where I myself get to learn some brand new knowledge about topics that are recently researched. To be able to express and communicate them in a clear, visual and more understandable way, I have to understand the topics myself. For instance, I have learned about ruins in Zimbabwe, and currently I´m doing a TED-Ed about neutron stars” Jody says, about the animation process and the foundation of knowledge she builds before making an educational film.

"Every area has some fascinating aspects in the work process, and I like the challenge and the excitement of the variation in my work"

The British illustrator and animator Jody Ghani Nordby is a skilled and productive artist, with a very personal style, easily recognisable with beautiful lines and colouring full of levels and intensity. Mixed with very clear expressions, all of her artworks have their own interesting details no matter the category.
Jody also creates a lot of illustrations for books, magazines and events. Her motivation and creative ideas for making more different sorts of illustrations are a continuously growing passion. “I would love to do more illustration and be able to explore this area more intensely and do more books, magazines, brochures, commissions, invitations, posters and all of the work that needs illustration. What I really like about illustrating is that it can be more artistic than for example graphic facilitation, where the clearness and the communicative message and use of understandable writing, often in a live performance in front of an audience, are the important elements. Every area has some very fascinating aspects in the work process, and I like the challenge and the excitement of the variation in my work.”

Jody's personal work

JodyPrody has been located at the Arsenal in Viborg, Denmark since 2013. Besides being located in the VIA University College area, the surroundings also consist of a varied cluster of animators, private production companies and much more. Jody enjoys being among so many great professionals with knowledge of all areas of animation.“This place is ideal for networking and for starting up new projects. I can always discuss my work with somebody and if I need an answer to a technical question or just want to debate some new ideas, I always have very interesting experts right around the corner to talk to.”
